You must also have first aid and CPR training within the last 24 months. If you do not have this, we can run an Emergency First Response training course for you, which takes just half a day.
PLEASE NOTE: It is a requirement of professional-level scuba diving courses in Maui to complete a medical questionnaire confirming you are in good health.
Earning the PADI Divemaster rating opens the door to a whole new lifestyle and welcomes you into professional diving status! Here at Banyan Tree Divers Maui, our PADI Divemaster internship allows you to develop leadership skills by learning specialized techniques to supervise dive activities, assist with training divers, and create quality dive experiences for our guests. You will also get the opportunity to assist Banyan Tree Divers in conservation efforts within Maui’s dive community. While your training will focus on Maui scuba diving activities techniques, the course will equip you with transferable skills to live and work as a dive professional anywhere in the world!
The program consists of three main modules: knowledge development sessions, water skills exercises, and practical assessment training. Your expert instructor mentors know how to guide your progress throughout the course as you learn to supervise divers and develop risk management skills while building on your diving skillset. Additionally, you work closely with your mentor to sharpen your knowledge of five distinct dive theory topics: physics, physiology, skills and environment, equipment, and decompression theory.
PADI Divemaster training culminates in a profound understanding of what it means to be a real dive leader and role model for other divers. To reach this level of confidence, you’ll take part in various training exercises and workshops to fine-tune your skill demonstrations and practical applications of the theory sections. Additionally, you will refine your rescue skills by completing the rescue exercises and scenarios.
The course takes a minimum of four weeks to complete, so you’ll get at least a month of Maui diving under your belt. As we are a mobile Maui dive shop, scheduling for the PADI Divemaster program is more complicated than shorter courses.
