Prerequisite: To enroll in the PADI Rescue Diver course, you must be a certified PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or equivalent from another agency. You must also have first aid and CPR training within the last 24 months. We can run an Emergency First Response training course for you if you do not have this, which takes just half a day.

PLEASE NOTE: It is a requirement for scuba diving courses in Maui that all divers complete a medical questionnaire confirming good health. On the medical questionnaire, you must answer “NO” to each of the questions. A “YES” answer to any medical question requires a signed release from your doctor before scuba diving in Maui.

The PADI Rescue Diver scuba certification course teaches you how to manage different dive-related emergencies through dive theory, training exercises, and rescue scenarios. Dive theory comprises two academic sessions coupled with independent study. You should complete the requisite Knowledge Review questions before beginning your rescue course.

Scuba diving in Maui provides the perfect setting to practice shore entries and exits. The ten in-water training exercises get practiced on the surface and underwater. You get to practice this training repeatedly until you feel relaxed and confident with every rescue skill. Ultimately, each of the ten exercises gets evaluated during two comprehensive rescue scenarios.

What to Expect Rescue Diving in Lahaina

Your scuba instructor plans each day of your Rescue Diver course by choosing the best Maui dive sites based on ocean conditions in Lahaina. You begin the morning at our headquarters in Lahaina, where you meet your instructor and talk about the day ahead. Your pre-rented equipment will be ready to get set up and rescue-ready! Afterward, you will drive your rental car to the dive site and reconnect with your instructor. Would you please let us know if you do not have a rental car? The usual meeting time is 8:30 am and, you can expect to finish each day by 4 pm.

PADI Rescue Diver is challenging but also very rewarding because you immediately improve your scuba diving skills and general underwater awareness.
