Maui Diving for Beginners

Have you ever wondered what it feels like to breathe underwater? Banyan Tree Divers work hard to provide you with the best Maui diving experience possible…

You will scuba dive in West Maui under the guidance of one of our experienced and professional instructors. We guarantee small groups so new divers get to experience the magical underwater world in a safe and intimate environment. We provide all of our guests with personalized attention, and whenever possible, private scuba lessons.

We start with a briefing about the basics of scuba diving and take you through some skills on land before entering the water. Once in the ocean, we get comfortable with these and practice a few extra skills in shallow water. Once you feel confident, we go deeper and explore one of our amazing Maui dive sites together.

We are blessed with almost year-round optimum conditions along the beaches of Lahaina and Kaanapali, and you’ll see an array of marine life. Commonly spotted marine life species on Maui diving sites include turtles, moray eels, and a variety of tropical fish.

Please note that our introductory dives are experience programs only and do not qualify as a certification. However, it may be possible to use your dives as credit towards earning your PADI Open Water Diver certification. Check out our Scuba Certifications section for more details on learning to dive on Maui.

Maui Diving Logistics for Beginner Divers

Mornings are the best time for good visibility underwater, so for most dives, we meet at 9am. In order to guarantee you the best Maui diving experience, the exact dive site is chosen the day before and emailed to you. Look for an updated email before 4 pm with GPS directions to the dive site.

Our Maui dive company is set up to offer you maximum convenience. We simply meet you with our scuba van at the beach, gear up, and walk into the ocean. You have the opportunity to make two scuba dives per trip, and your additional tank is discounted to just $79 per person. A second dive allows us to explore the entirety of a large dive site or alternatively visit a different Maui diving site. Your second dive is often even more spectacular than your first because your confidence increases so much even after just one dive with our passionate and professional team. You will finish a one dive trip by 11am, and two dives by about 1pm.

Quality underwater photos and videos are available to purchase for an additional $60 through our dive shop. Maui scuba diving pictures are very popular among our customers, so this is recommended!
